Airs Friday 6 September 2024 at 1:45pm on Channel 5.

In the latest developments from Summer Bay, the seaside town is buzzing with secrets, suspicions, and potential scandals.

Remi Carter and Bree Cameron have been skillfully navigating the waters of their rekindled romance, keeping their reunion under wraps from their friends and neighbors. The couple has been weaving a web of white lies, creating opportunities to sneak away for intimate moments together. However, their carefully constructed facade is on the verge of crumbling.

During one of their clandestine rendezvous at the band share house, Remi and Bree find themselves in a compromising position when an unexpected visitor arrives. Despite Remi’s best efforts to send the intruder away, it seems their secret is out. The question on everyone’s lips is: who has discovered their rekindled relationship? As the couple grapples with this new development, they must decide how much longer they can keep their love hidden from the rest of Summer Bay.

Meanwhile, the Newman siblings continue to be at odds over Felicity’s budding romance with River Boy leader Rory Templeton. Cash, ever the protective brother and dedicated police officer, is convinced that Felicity’s involvement with Rory can only lead to trouble. His concerns are further fueled by his growing suspicion that the River Boys gang may be connected to the murder of a police officer from Mangrove River Police Station.

In another corner of town, Irene Roberts is silently battling her own demons. Unbeknownst to her friends, Irene has relapsed in her struggle with alcoholism. This hidden struggle comes to a head during an interview with a journalist from The Coastal News, arranged by her well-meaning friend Leah Patterson.

What was intended to be a controlled narrative about their recent experiences with con woman Bronte Langford takes an unexpected turn. Irene, influenced by her secret drinking, goes off-script and delivers a rambling monologue about being a “born loser” and the “perfect victim.” She places the blame squarely on her own shoulders for falling prey to Bronte’s schemes, much to Leah’s shock and dismay.

Concerned by Irene’s uncharacteristic behavior, John Palmer decides to investigate. He makes his way to Irene’s beach house, determined to uncover the truth behind her strange actions. The question hangs in the air: will John catch Irene in the act of drinking, exposing her relapse to the community?
